As of November 2011 Batgirl came in at #18 in Quantity Rank but up at #24 in Dollar Rank continuing to surpass the dollar ranking of all other female lead DC titles! Batgirl Volume 4 with the original Batgirl Barbara Gordon back in the helm is currently DC's 10th best selling title and an amazing 18th among all other comics pulishers!
Yet on the CBR Top 100 Titles of 2011 the comic didn't even rank at all. Steph/Batgirl was #35, WW #11, and Batwoman #10. Trying to be unbiased I can fully accept that Batwoman is so high because let's face it, it has some of the absolute BEST art in ANY comic out there right now (even if I'm not a fan of all the weird paneling in the book).
But the other two I find a little hard to swallow in how Gail Simone has taken a character back to her roots and having her face survivors guilt from healing from a near fatal attack, which was probably especially bruising on Barbara's pride on top of the trauma since she is secretly a super hero. And in the real world reworking a character that has had all the difficult 22yr history that has had fanbases going at each other nonstop for over two decades, into a viable and popular comic, no mean feat!
Ah well, everyone has their opinions of course, I am just surprised that a book that is doing so incredibly well both in general as well as for the fact that it's a female solo book (which traditionally don't do as well) did not get ANY recognition for the CBR Top 100 List.
