According to many, the current run from Morrison is the best run of ongoing stories in the franchise's history. But what happens when Morrison leaves? How would any run in the after this surpass the success of what's been done recently? If none of the creators in the near future are able to supersede or even match Morrison, the franchise could probably be in danger of hitting stagnancy for a few years.

So, is this it? Has Batman reached it's peak after this?

Finally, I was able to record the “Main Opening Titles,” on my TV, since the computer wasn’t able to read, due to technical difficulties. This is the fourth and final “revived” official high-definition, high-resolution, and high-quality “Main Opening Titles” in “Bare-Bones” DVD Quality, for this fourth and final 1997 sequel superhero fantasy-classic-blockbuster fourth – “best and worst” “Batman” f…

Batman #139

On sale: February 23, 1961
Cover date: April, 1961
Cover price: $0.10

Credits: Bill Finger, script (all three stories)
Sheldon Moldoff, pencils (all three stories & cover)
Charles Paris, inks (all three stories)

1. The Blue Bowman

Story summary: Signalman escapes from prison and takes the new identity of the Blue Bowman (a Green Arrow clone).

2. The Island of 1,000 Traps

Story summary: Batman tracks a fugitive to a small island which he has armed with numerous traps.

3. Bat-Girl

Reprinted in: Batman Annual #7,
Batman from the 30's to the 70's,
Batman Annuals Vol. 2 HC

Story summary: Kathy Kane's niece Betty discovers Kathy's costumed identity, designs a costume for herself, and takes the identity of Bat-Girl (with a hyphen).

Comments: This was the first appearance of Kathy (Batwoman) Kane's niece, Betty (yes, spelled with a "y"). She debuted in 1961, but was eliminated from the Batman family just three years later (along with Batwoman, Bat-Mite and Bathound) when Julius Schwartz became editor and revamped the line. I wonder if you can guess how many times she appeared during those three short years?

spoilers:
Only six times total. In addition to this issue, she was in Batman #141, 144, 153, 159 and Detective #322. Many people don't realize what a short time she was on the scene.
end of spoilers

After this, she didn't appear again until (the original) Teen Titans #50, in 1977. Later, after Crisis on Infinite Earths, her identity would be retconned to Firebird, and the spelling of her first name changed to "Bette." Nowadays, she can be seen as a supporting character in the new Kate Kane Batwoman stories.

Apologies: Sorry I missed last week. I was away on vacation and my laptop caught a virus.

New Batman Reader!
Hello guys, i Have joined this Forum for some help with my new found love. Comic books (mostly Batman). two weeks ago i was walking around in a local antique shop and saw the "Frank millers complete Batman" comic. My first thought was, hmm, Frank Miller i know that name from the 300, and sin city films (and graphic novels). This is got to be good so i picked it up (first ed) for 25 dollars. and i read this book and i am hooked on comic books! I loved this book, out of the three stories in the book the Dark Knight returns was my favorite, but damn, these were a fun read.

Anyways, i just started reading comics, i always respected comic books, but never started reading them. now, i started, and i dont want to quit. Im coming to you guys to help find some of the best Batman stories out there. also i dont have a comic book store within 60 miles so its going to be tough getting new stories. but after reading Frank millers batman, i ordered the Killing Joke, batmans: Cacophony, and the first 6 comics of the widening gyre (because im a fan of kevin smiths films so might as well read his comics). Im thinking those are enough to get me started on my new hobby, but if any of you guys have a favorite batman series, or Graphic novel i would love to know what they are so i can add them to my list of comics to buy!

Also, i know that there is going to be a series about what happens inbetween the batman Video games Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City, does anyone know when those are coming out?

Cheers,
Adam

hello people

what artists that have drawn the joker do you hate? The ones who're the worst in my book are Jim Aparo and Tim Sale. It's the chin on both, it's way to long for some reason.

yours?
