Anner wins spot on Oprah network Austin's Zach Anner has won a spot on OWN, the new cable television network from Oprah Winfrey.
We know Grant Morrison loves to dig around and bring back themes and imagery from even the most obscure Batman works. This has been most recently exemplified in the first two issues of Batman Inc, which saw references to the Bat Manga by the truck load. So what do you all think? You think we might see Batman Inc expand into Russia and see the first appearance in the main DCU of the sexy Russian Bat-Hat made so famous in Mark Millar's Red Son?
Batman: The Animated Series Season 1, Ep. 27 “Mad As A Hatter” The Mad Hatter puts the city of Gotham under his control in an attempt to impress a woman, Alice, with whom he is in love. However, when he discovers that she likes someone else, he plans to exterminate the competition and kidnap Alice. I LOVE THIS EPISODE THAT’S WHY I’M POST HERE!!! (AIWS)ALICE IN WONDERLAND 4EVER!…

And I'd like to give a big kudos to DetectiveDupin for the creation of the first Off-Topic thread for the Batman forum. It was a great way to bring us all together.
And a message to anyone who wants to pop in, feel free! Just come in and say hi, we don't bite ( well, there was this one time with Guardian, but that's in the past)

This is an outgrowth from the Bat-Board proper. This is basically a chat thread, where there does not have to be a topic. Civility rules apply here! You can have arguments and stuff like that, though - do note that arguments can and SHOULD be civil, which means not talking trash about posters who are not on this thread and not talking trash ABOUT other posters to one another. If you wish to argue, argue - just keep it with the person you're arguing with. And no linking to pornography! I don't mind some cussing, but that goes too far. Otherwise, enjoy! |

I'm trying to make a list of DC and Marvel characters in the order of their first comic appearance. But there's a problem. The publication date of Batman #1 is given as Spring 1940 in every place I've looked. Similarly, the publication date of Superman #1 is given as Summer 1939.
What month were these comics first published in?
What is a reliable source for this kind of information?

Now that Dick Grayson is a Batman, has Red Robin (Tim Drake) essentially filled in the niche that Nightwing once did (e.g. an intermediate role between Batman and Robin)?

hello people
Reread Batman 666 and Commisoner Gordon (Barbara Gordon) hates Damian with all her guts. Damian mentions Dick Grayson's death. This issue had a loooooooot of foreshadowing in the Grant Morrison Batman run.
Just a theory but if it ends up being correct I'm going to be mad.

I like Geoff Johns' writing and I do consider him one of the best comic book writers around but I don't know if I would have picked him for this. I am reserving my judgement until I read Earth One (and the wait is killing me) and what little I've heard of it makes me crazy excited, but I would have offered it to Brian Azzarello. Because the novel reading audience that may be interested in this IMO would be the crime fiction fans (Including psychological thriller, detective fiction etc) who saw the Nolan movies and went to the comics expecting the same. And from what I've seen, I Think that Brian Azzarello would be the best choice to deliver just that. His Batman work so far has been more of a Detective/Thriller fusion (For the lack of a better term) but with out sacrificing all the Jumping and Punching of a Superhero story, We know that he can work in the OGN format and personally I think that he is capable of delivering a Year One caliber Batman story, maybe this Batman could win the title of World's greatest Detective instead of just DC telling people that he is like New Earth's Batman.
So that would me my choice, I'm curious to see if anyone would have picked Johns and the reason for it.

Here is the Batman short-film ‘Gotham Knights’, created using the stop-motion animation technique. The Riddler escapes from Arkham Asylum. The knights of Gotham must act quickly. Be sure to watch this in HD! Enjoy, and feel free to comment/rate/subscribe….

Hi guys!
I'm new to the forum, but most importantly new reading comics and the Batman comics. In order to catch up to the current Batman (#705) issues, I went back and started reading the graphic novels starting with "The Black Glove". Everything has made perfect sense to me except for the part in Batman #693 where Tommy Elliot is impersonating Bruce Wayne while he's gone.
Since I've been reading the comics in order, I don't remember when Tommy Eliot came into the picture so I was wondering, can anybody tell me which issue establishes Tommy Elliot trying to take over Bruce Wayne's life so that I can go back and read it? Really appreciate the help everyone!

Believing that there is far more to the picture than just "globalizing" the Batman brand, I'm getting the feeling that the theme of Batman (detailed in "Batman&Robin" and "ROBW") being the ultimate doomsday weapon are now taking shape in the current "Batman Inc" and possibly "Dark Knight" and other Bruce centric stories. This is his call to arms, the formation of the secret (yet public) Bat society of skulls.
Who knows what happend in his trip through the Omega sanction. Maybe its a Bruce Wayne of an alternate universe or something.... Or perhaps a Bruce Wayne with a dormant evil waiting to inflict the doomsday that was promised, but seemingly averted?
I think he could either be possesed by, Brainwashed or quite literally be any one of a few "bad guys", most likely Darkseid. He's a sleeper agent who is unwittingly creating a Bat-army, that, once the cue is given, under EvilBruce Wayne could effectively rule over the world in some sort of tyrannical fashion, putting the proveribal Bat boot on the throats of all the other heroes.
Its a rough idea, just throwing it out there.
